Meet Michael Bautista and you will find that he has a passion for music, life, and learning. Michael earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English from Stanford University , a Master’s Degree in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a California Teaching Credential in Mathematics from National Univsersiy. He has studied guitar with many great guitarists including David Tanenbaum, Marc Teicholz, Bahram Behroozi, and Don Balistreri. Michaels' performances have captivated audiences since he was a teenager. He has performed the "Concierto de Aranjuez" for the Ambassador of Spain, given a solo performance for Senator John Kerry, and in 2005 was honored to perform as a soloist in Carnegie Hall. He was a finalist n the 2006 Christopher Parkening International Guitar Competition, the world’s preeminent classical guitar competition. Michael is also a songwriter, a studio guitarist of all styles, and a dedicated teacher. From 2005-2007 Michael was Professor of Music and Guitar at San Jose State University and West Valley College. From 2001 to 2007, he taught music lessons at CB Perkins Guitar Company. In the summer of 2006, he served on faculty of the UC Berkeley Young Musicians Program. Michael is also certified in Orff-Schulwerk, a teaching method that focuses on creative applications in youth music education. Michael now teaches math courses, private guitar lessons, and performs concerts.
